Welcome New Board Members... Thank You Existing Board!

Updated: Oct 27, 2021

Cure CMD is delighted to welcome two new additions to the organization’s Board of Directors. They have been working hard over the past several years to support Cure CMD’s research and community-building efforts, and we are fortunate to have them step up their leadership in this way. We look forward to our work together!

Sara Bloomfield has been an active member of the Cure CMD community since 2012, when her daughter was diagnosed with LAMA2-CMD at six months old. Since then, she has been a continuous advocate for affected individuals, helping to raise funds, building a social media presence, writing letters of support of Cure CMD’s work, and participating in public awareness efforts. Sarah has also been a go-to community member when Cure CMD has a question or needs input on initiatives to serve the community. She has a business degree from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Notre Dame, and Sarah's work experience includes roles within marketing, sales, product management, and business development. Sara joined the board in September 2018.

Mark Beare has been a member of the CMD community since 2015 when his daughter, Bella, was diagnosed with LAMA2. He has been incredibly active as a fundraiser and advocate over the past three years, particularly with the incredibly successful “Beare it for Bella” in 2016, when he completed a Half-Ironman Triathlon in Santa Cruz, CA while wearing Bella’s body weight in the form of a weight vest through the race. When he’s not completing triathlons or entertaining his two toddlers, Mark is the Vice President of Research and Development for Corel. He’s also experienced in the areas of website development, marketing, and communications. He is incredibly passionate about one day finding a cure for Bella and everyone affected by the various CMDs. Mark officially stepped up to join the Cure CMD Board in September 2018.

We also want to say a big THANK YOU to outgoing Board members Stephanie Dague and Dr. Herb Stevenson. They were part of our original expanded Board, and over the past three years, they have helped oversee the most dramatic growth the organization has seen since its inception. We are so grateful to you, Stephanie and Herb, and we look forward to continuing to support you and your family.
