I have decided to walk to support my sister Ann who has always been an inspiration to me and a true advocate for change. My hope is that in her son Jack's life time we can find a cure.

Maia is my granddaughter and I am running the race in the hope that one day she may receive the cure for her disease. Her indomitable spirit will help me to overcome the difficulties this race will pose for me. I shall think of her and her love to dance, her love to garden and her happiness riding the train. I will think of her incredible courage to tackle life despite all her problems. She has carved out such happy moments and fills all those around her with abundant joy.To be part of this race and wearing the CureCMD shirt will be like wearing an honor's patch for Maia.

Running for a great cause is mind empowering. Every step I make symbolizes strength, freedom and my relentless drive. Crossing the finish line, I feel on top of the world. An unforgettable accomplishment, priceless!

Running anything over 3 miles is a real challenge for me - but I'm sure this pales in comparison to the challenges that individuals with CMD overcome on a daily basis. I am therefore grateful for the opportunity to support Team Cure CMD and participate in the Los Angeles Rock and Roll Half Marathon. Anne and her family are a true inspiration. Thank you Anne, Joe, and Maia!

I'm running for my beautiful niece, Maia, who was diagnosed with a form of Congenital Muscular Dystrophy shortly after her birth. Maia is a happy and wonderful girl who is a source of joy for her family and friends. I hope a cure can be found one day for Maia and others like her.

I am running for my daughter Maia. The real race is trying to find medications that can prolong her life and other people with CMD. Thanks for your support.

I am Maia's pediatrician. I also attended medical school with Maia's mother, Anne, who is an emergency room physician. Maia, Anne, and Joe have inspired me to support the cause of Cure CMD from their daily struggle and triumph with Maia's congenital muscular dystrophy.
